Manaaki brings to Te Puna Ariki a wealth of operational expertise grounded in six years of experience within Aotearoa’s Māori tourism sector. Beginning his career as a cultural guide, Manaaki quickly distinguished himself through his professionalism, presence, and ability to deliver authentic, engaging experiences. He progressed into a Host Co-ordinator role and most recently served as a Duty Manager, where he oversaw daily operations, team leadership, logistics, and stakeholder relationships in fast-paced, high-performance environments.
Throughout his career, Manaaki has developed strong capability in logistics management, programme delivery, stakeholder engagement, and customer service excellence. His operational style is both strategic and people-focused, ensuring systems run smoothly while maintaining a strong commitment to manaakitanga. He understands that successful operations are built not only on structure and efficiency, but on strong relationships and shared purpose.
Having worked for some of Aotearoa’s premier Māori tourism institutions, including Te Pā Tū and Te Puia | New Zealand Institute of Māori Arts and Crafts, Manaaki has cultivated a deep passion for kōrero tuku iho and Te Ao Māori. Immersed daily in environments that uphold cultural integrity and excellence, he has strengthened his knowledge of tikanga, pūrākau, and the importance of storytelling as a vehicle for identity and intergenerational connection.
As Operations Manager for Te Puna Ariki, Manaaki brings a steady, solutions-focused approach to delivering impactful programmes and supporting the Trust’s long-term vision. He is committed to ensuring that the systems, spaces, and experiences of Te Puna Ariki reflect the highest standards of professionalism while remaining grounded in kaupapa Māori values.
